Baked Fries

These are the snack I go to when I want chips or fries, they are fast, tasty, and satisfy that snack craving perfectly!

These crispy fries are perfect for a snack or side dish.

I try not to buy snack foods in my house, simply because if I don’t have them I can’t eat them. But when the craving hits for a nice salty fry or a potato chip, these are my go to snacks!

When making these there are a few steps I normally forgo simply to cut back on dishes and waste, and I would recommend them if you too are trying to do the same thing. First I do not use parchment paper; it’s not a thing I have in my house ever so all of my cooking and baking is done without it. When flipping the fries olive oil does an okay job about keeping them from sticking to the sheet, however I found that a metal spatula slid forcefully under the fries and then flipping them normally does the trick, and sometime I think makes them even crispier. The second thing I do is normally I just mix all the ingredients together on the pan instead of in a mixing bowl. This is great if you’re not using parchment paper, if you are I wouldn’t recommend this. I’ve done it before when I was still using parchment paper, and all it accomplishes is making the paper soggy before going in to the oven and ripping in inconvenient places, to me it’s just not worth the hassle.

Ingredients

1 Potato cut into 1/4 in. fries
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp paprika
Salt to taste (normally I start with 1/4 tsp)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Add fries to a medium sized bowl and drizzle over olive oil, garlic and onion powder, paprika, and salt.
  3. Spread in a even layer so all the fries are touching the baking sheet and then put into the over.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, flip the fries, and then bake for another 10-15 minutes.
  5. Once out of the oven taste to make sure the salt is to your liking, if not salt again and eat while hot!
